posted by a parent/guardian, 2009-09-11 We are already having issues with the elementary teacher!!!!! My Child is NOT learning anything except to color and draw stick people. What does this teach a child??????? I know this is only Kind. but shouldn't they be starting to learn what they need for first grade. My child learned more in preK than he is now. He brings home more actual work for home work than what is being done in class. Granted this is only the first six weeks of school but I would expect to see more actual class work from him than just the drawings on manilla paper.
To night he brought home 3 manilla papers with stick figures and his name and 1 pict of a bear he colored with his hand tracing on the back. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE HECK THIS IS FOR. IT SURE IS'NT TEACHING HIM HIS ABC'S AND HIS NUMBERS. NO WONDER THERE IS MORE IN KIND THAN IN FIRST GRADE. THEY ALL FAILED KINDERGARDEN.
ARE WE SUPPOSE TO BE TEACHING THE KIDS OR ISNT THAT THE TEACHERS JOB. I know we are to be helping at home but from where I am sitting it looks to me that the teacher is sending work home for us to teach while all she does is babysitting. If my child is NOT doing his work at school shouldnt the teacher be sending me a note to let me know so that we can discuss this with him. And shouldn't she be requesting a conference with me so we can get this taken care of early before it is to late. And if he is doing work in class shouldnt they be sending it home for us to sign?????? so that we know what he or she is needing help with. Other wise I feel like I should get the teaching certificate and be teaching him! I feel right now like I am home schooling him and just sending him to a sitter in the day!!!
